Performance Evaluation of Wi-Fi RTT Lateration without Pre-Constructing a Database

This paper proposes an algorithm for estimating the location of wireless access points (APs) in indoor environments to realize smartphone positioning based on Wi-Fi without pre-constructing a database. The proposed method is designed overcome main problem existing methods requiring advance construction database with coordinates or precise AP measurements. constructs local coordinate system first four APs that are activated turn, and estimates installation using round-trip time (RTT) lateration ranging results between APs. effectiveness confirmed by conducting experiments real environment consisting two rooms different sizes evaluate performance algorithm. experimental showed RTT delivers high pre-constructed
